Lasso was brought in on Christmas Eve 2022 by “Santa” because his family was moving from Georgia to New Mexico. He was our very first farm rescue. If you’ve met Lasso, you know without a doubt that he is a MESS. He gets into a LOT of trouble, but no matter what, he is still our special boy.
These mallard ducklings were still in their shells in April 2023 when they were found during a land clearing operation. Safely removed and kept warm until fully hatched! These babies have grown up right alongside our Pekin ducks and African goose. They are free rein, and the coolest thing about them is that they’ll take their evening flight just before sunset, and they always return “home”. One day they’ll fly off to be on their own, but we love watching them grow while they stay.
This little guy was found hopping around an auto-repair shop parking lot. Izzy stayed there for weeks just scrounging up whatever he could find for food. He was SO scared of everyone and would just hide away. In late April 2023, after two weeks of setting up food plots and box traps just waiting from a distance, we were finally able to get him home safely. Now, he has a warm, safe place, a full belly every day, he eats from our hands, and we’ve also given him a Mrs! Soon, there will be little Izzy’s hopping around. (RIP 2/29/24)
In early May 2023, we received a call that a baby kitten was abandoned on the side of the road. They kept an eye out for a mama cat, but after a couple days of waiting, she didn’t show. Jenny was only about 2 weeks old and .5 lbs when we picked her up. She was bottle fed 3-4 times a day for 2 months straight. Gained weight, was extremely playful, curious, and LOVED to snuggle with our merle golden-doodle, Molly. She is a very strong girl and has had our heart from day one. She is a sweetheart!!
These two brothers were part of a large litter born in March 2023. They just couldn’t be kept by their owner, so the first week of May, after 8 weeks of milk with mama, they came home to spend the rest of their days on the farm. Bubba is constantly begging for food and always wants a treat. Forrest is the lazy one. Always tired…most likely from all that running ;)
This sweet baby was found hiding inside the engine of a truck in July, 2023. He was terrified and just wanted to stay hidden. After an hour of struggling, he was finally pulled out safely. He was a greasy mess, severely malnourished, and SO scared of everything. Getting Junior ready to roam freely was a very long process. He still isn‘t a fan of human interaction, but he has been making great improvements.
DJ (Dopey Junior) and Penelope (only answers to “Puppy”) are sisters and were raised just a few miles away on a goat and cattle farm. In October 2023, their owners were moving to Wyoming to start a new adventure, and these girls just needed to continue working with animals for the remainder of the days. It’s in their blood. They are sweet and lovable, but they are also fierce protectors. We are so excited to have them on our team as our livestock guardians.
This little guy lost his mother shortly after she gave birth to him in September 2023. He was born small and wasn’t gaining much weight. His original owners didn‘t think he would make it, but at three months old, he was still pulling along. After being without his mother’s milk, and surviving solely on feed and hay, his owners said they were just waiting for him to get big enough for slaughter. Thankfully, our kind neighbors took him in with the whole intention of gifting him to our farm. Taco is a very curious Kiko and has made a perfect friend for Lasso.
